    Description

Meet Poinsettia Heather MacGregor! Her family calls her Settie for short!
Settie is a Antique Civil War China doll c.1860 she has china arms, legs and Red colored flat feet/boots. Settie has a flat top, low brow, black hair style, with a center part and sausage curls. Settie has blue eyes, a thin red line indicating her eye lid, she also has highlights in her eyes. There are tiny delicate red dots in corner of her eyes also red dots indicating her nostrils. She has one stroke eye brows, pale rosebud lips with a sweet smile and flushed pale cheeks. Her painting was obviously done by a Master Artist. Settie has a hour glass shape, sawdust stuffed, muslin body.
Settie is a collectors dream doll. She has all the bells and whistles, passionate china doll collectors search for. It is so rare to have a beautiful face, nice old body with porcelain arms, feet and original clothing! Obviously Settie has been behind glass and she has been well taken care of, from all her loved ones.
Settie has beautiful porcelain spoon hands with delicate incised fingers her hands are so sweet and perfect. They are my favorite and extremely rare! Her porcelain is so pure and white just lovely.
Settie wears her Original Scottish Tartan Bustle Walking Dress and matching Kilt Skirt. Settie’s Tartan is a reminder of her proud Scottish Highland Gaelic Clan, her heritage.
Settie loves to play in her garden with her vintage porcelain Cocker spaniel named “Red boy” they love to catch butterflies with her butterfly net. Her butterfly net is artist made from vintage netting, with a plaid handle and two waxed butterflies. She also has a bug jar with a cocoon!
Settie and Redboy sit in the garden and listen to Great Gramma Nana, she is the Matriarch of their family. Nana loves to regale stories that were passed down through generations about the great potato famine and other aspects of their Celtic culture and family lineage. Look closely in the photos of Settie in the garden you will see Nana out in the garden!
Settie‘s antique Chatalain has a beautiful antique machine embroidered rose ribbon belt with a victorian punch design broach fastener. A large garden door key and a vintage Tartan (plaid) purse,(Sporran) swing from the Chatalain. Settie puts lavender blossoms from the field in her Tartan purse/sporran. Nana says the lavender is pretty and medicinal. Settie just loves how it smells.
Settie also has a tiny “Surprise” tucked into her Tartan purse! If you can keep a secret and want to know the surprise...MESSAGE ME! Settie and I will get back to you and send you a picture of the the charming surprise!
Settie has a red vintage hat that has a antique victorian rhinestone butterfly, antique red velvet ribbon, antique silk Plaid/Tartan ribbon, two small feathers on the side and antique hat netting made by The dove Collection. As if the butterfly is caught up in the net on her hat! Just adorable!
Settie loves her Scottish Tartan Walking Dress with a black velvet bow bustle. Her dress has delicate antique Irish Tambour lace ruffles on the collar and cuffs. Her Tartan has two pieces there is a matching Tartan ruffle Kilt skirt. Her Tartan walking dress and Kilt skirt are original and masterfully all HAND STITCHED! There are 4 teeny tiny mother of Pearl buttons on the back of the Tartan/plaid dress. The workmanship and attention to detail on her Tartan is truly exquisite.
Settie has a vintage velvet choker ribbon necklace with a red tiny embroidered flower. Settie has a artist made antique plaid lace camisole and matching bloomers with velvet and silk threads running thru also tiny red embroidered flowers.
Settie has a corset artisan made also by “The dove Collection.” The corset is made of antique Cluney lace, vintage olive green velvet ribbon, vintage lace, and a vintage green satin “frog” closure. Behind the corset is a “Stomacher” a piece of lace that functions as a flattening shield worn under her corset. Settie has a bustle undergarment artisan made of red velvet ribbon, vintage green toole netting, and vintage light green stiff horsehair style millinery netting that was rolled to create the lift or bustle. Settie has a antique broach with blue faceted Safire stones the broach was passed down from Great Gramma to her. Settie has her original antique bustle petticoat trimmed in tiny red rick-rack ribbon, green velvet ribbon and tiny red flowers that match her camisole, bloomers and choker necklace. Her original petticoat has a draw string that gathers so it can stay flat in the front and gather up in back to make allowances for the bustle. Settie has her original hand sewn sheer cotton chemise under garment with Irish Tambour lace around cuffs and bloomers this lace is fragile extra care should be given when handling.
Settie is 160 years old! Just take a moment to appreciate her longevity! She is in remarkable condition for her age. Doubtful she was played with much, probable sat in a china cabinet most of her long life. Please do not bid on my dolls if you are not passionate about faded glory and grandeur! Settie has spider cracks on her right back calf/leg and on her left arm. Her sawdust body has yellowing and “foxing” small speckled stains all commiserate with her age. These flaws do not detract from her beauty. I do consider all flaws when I price her. If she were mint, her price would double as she is incredible rare. Her Tartan was repaired on her sleeve. Great care when dressing and undressing her always should be taken. There are minor flaws in the antique Irish Tambour lace. Her bustle petticoat and chemise are stained and yellowing. There are always little flaws in lace and antique materials. One of her red boots is a little rough a flea bite at the tip of the toe. I do not except returns on dolls. I try to accurately describe her. Settie is a Antique treasure and a wonderful investment for you. Her value will continue to increase with her age.
    Please bid with confidence.
Please ask any questions you may have. Or any info on her you may like to share with me. Please view all pictures as they serve as part of her description.
I will professionally pack her, insure her and ship, that does add up more so for long distance trips. If I have over estimated shipping by ten dollars I will refund shipping cost difference.
Please view my other dolls for sale. Please save me as a buyer. I am selling my life long collection and will list new dolls regularly.
Settie and Redboy will be waiting in the garden for you!
In the past I have used Settie as a “model” for antique clothing I have already sold. I may slip a couple photos of her in a fancy French hoop skirt and ruffle bloomers or wearing different hats. These items DO NOT come with her.
A final note: some of my loyal customers and watchers may of noticed all my dolls have names of flowers. I have one child a girl named Heather. I have named all my dolls, flower names as an homage to her. Beautiful little flowers in my secret garden.
Thank you for reading Settie’s description.
    God bless you all

*SECRET SURPRISE in Settie’s Tartan Purse!
    Medical records from “doc joy”
Our little Settie had an operation to remove her “wire armature” some time ago. As it was broken and starting to protrude. A common problem for girls her age! These dolls were never made to last this long. It was a successful operation. Settie can now easily sit or stand.
